The iconic tidal island of Mont Saint Michel off the coast of Normandy marks the starting point for the 500km Mont Saint-Michel Way. The Benedictine Abbey at Mont Saint Michel is among the most visited cultural sites in France, a monument historique since 1862 and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.
Passing the historic cities of Rennes and Nantes on its journey south the Mont Saint Michel Way finishes at Saintes in the region of Poitou-Charentes where it joins the Paris and Tours Way - a tributary of the Camino de Santiago.
