Overview

The Bishop’s House on the Isle of Iona is a retreat house of the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles. In the very heart of the House is the exquisite St. Columba’s Chapel, a place that represents the Episcopal Church of the Isle. There are 23 beds in 3 single and 10 twins rooms. Baths are shared. Groups can rent the house as a whole if they wish.

Iona can be reached by the 10-minute ferry trip across the Sound of Iona from Fionnphort on Mull. The most common route is via Oban connected by regular ferries to Craignure on Mull. There is a bus from Craignure to Fionnphort along a scenic drive. Access by car is not allowed on Iona for non-residents. Visitors must leave their car in either Oban or Fionnphort. The island is small enough to avoid the use of the car. Bike hire is available at the pier and on Mull. By car: From London take M1, M6 and M74 to Glasgow. Take M8 and leave it at the junction with A82. Take A82 north until the junction with A85. Take A85 west to Oban. Take a ferry to Craignure on Mull. It is not necessary to book unless you plan to take your vehicle to Mull. Once in Mull, you can drive to Fionnphort by following the signs for a 37-mile scenic drive or take the bus that meets the ferry. The ferries between Oban and Craignure and Fionnphort and Iona are run by Caledonian Macbride
