Overview

The convent lies in a tranquil forest and has preserved its characteristic Franciscan simplicity. It houses a monumental library and priceless works of art including a large painting by Francesco Vanni. Its church is highlighted by a pretty Renaissance cloister. Accommodation available: 
1) Inside the convent: 25 beds in 1 single, 2 double rooms and small dorms with bunk beds. Baths are shared. Both men and women are welcome but only as a group.
2) At the Casa San Francesco al Prato alle Macinaie, 11 km from the convent, there are about 35 beds in dorms with bunk beds. Both men and women are welcome but only as a group.
Towels and linens are not supplied.

By car: From Siena, take Strada Statale 2 Cassia (SS 2) south to Bagno  Vignoni and turn right on route 323 to Castel del Piano. Follow the signs to Arcidosso (between Castel del Piano and Arcidosso) and look for signs to the convent. By train:The convent is not easy to reach via public transportation.The friars suggest coming by car.
