The convent is less than half a mile from the beaches but is far removed from the noise and crowds of the coast. It provides 4 beds in 2 double rooms, both with private bath. Both men and women are welcome but together only if married.
Santa María de la Merced was founded in 1988 as a branch of the Mercedarian Monastery of San José in Derio. The nuns transformed an old house into a monastery and are presently building a new chapel.
Meals are not provided with the lodging. There are many restaurants in town.
