概述

Sarum College offers an experience of staying in the historic Salisbury Cathedral Close, just steps away from the medieval Cathedral. This city-centre setting is close to the high street as well as the rail station with direct services to London and to major Southern England cities.

历史

Sarum College is a centre for study and research in historic Grade 1-listed buildings. The College was founded in 1995 to offer theological learning to all. Alongside our own courses and conferences, local, national and international groups and individuals hire our facilities to meet, train and celebrate. Across the quad from us live three Anglican Benedictine monks in St Benedict’s Priory, who are part of the greater Sarum College community, along with the Royal School of Music (RSCM) whose national administrative office is housed on the second floor.

Sarum College has an in-house catering team who make cooked breakfasts and lunches daily, as well as evening meals and food for conferences, events and celebrations. There is a dining room and a licensed bar. There are several cafes within Salisbury Cathedral Close and just outside the medieval walls are classic and gastro pubs, as well as restaurants to suit any taste. Further afield there are excellent pubs set in the timeless Wiltshire countryside.

Salisbury Cathedral Close is an 80-acre site of which seven are grassy public areas for walking, lounging and picnicking. Nearby Queen Elizabeth Gardens is a riverside park about 10 minutes walk from the College. You can continue along the Town Path to see the classic view that John Constable painted of Salisbury Cathedral across the water meadows.

A very warm welcome and good clean rooms with tea and coffee making facilities. As I have arthritis I was very disappointed to discover that the lift was out of action and my room was up several flights of stairs. If I had known before hand I would have made alternate arrangements. Breakfast was excellent

Very pleasant stay, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast exceeded my expectations! Only slight downside was my room was very stuffy due to hot weather. The fan provided struggled to deliver a good temperature. Have already booked another night at end of the month. Would def recommend

The building is very nice, the location is great. Breakfast schedule could be a little more flexible, as well as the the checkout time (first time we need to leave at 9.30). The rest was very good and staff quite helpful.

Wonderful building, excellent breakfast. The single room was sparse but spotless. Unfortunately the heating was not working and it was a little cool in the evening. A portable heater was supplied.

Road Directions The High Street entrance is the only way to drive into The Close. Please use SP1 2PF in Satnav to avoid being directed to the pedestrian entrance. Car parking at Sarum College is free but not available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is one space reserved for disabled parking. Alternatively there is a small car park within the cathedral close, along with others in the city centre. Walking & Cycling Sarum College is in the centre of Salisbury, about a 15-minute walk from the rail station. Guests are welcome to park bicycles in bike shed at the rear of the college. Public transport Public transport links to Salisbury are excellent with frequent train services to and from Salisbury. There are direct trains to London, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. Taxis from the station to College cost about £5 or £6. The city also has an extensive bus network with five park & ride sites located at all the main routes into Salisbury.
