A remarkable complex, it is distinguished from others because of its architecture and the austere and simple spirituality of its order.
Founded in 1162 by Alfonso VII of Castilla, the mainly Gothic design of the monastery has been preserved. It was inhabited by the Cistercian Order until 1830 when the monks were forced to leave during the religious suppression. They returned in 1930 and since that time has restored and revived the spiritual life of the monastery.
There are 13 double and triple rooms with bath. Both men and women are welcome.
All meals are included with the lodging.
Towels and linens are provided.

By car: Exit at Santa María de Huerta (km 177 on the Autovia 2 between Madrid and Zaragoza).
By train: Get off at Arcos de Jalón and take a bus to Santa María de Huerta. Getting to the monastery by public transportation can be difficult; contact the monastery for additional information.
