Storia

The Congregation of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist (Battistine), founded in Angri (SA) in 1878, by Saint Alfonso M. Fusco, is an international congregation. It operates in 18 countries around the world: Italy, United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Zambia, India, Philippines, Korea, Poland, Argentina, South Africa, Malawi, Mexico, Madagascar, Moldova, Cameroon and Romania.

He spreads everywhere the message of love, of redemption, of humility, of human promotion that the priest, Blessed Alfonso Maria Fusco lived and lives the charism of "Preparing the ways of the Lord", realized in the Church by the Founder.

The spirit of the Congregation springs from the dynamic response to the voice of the Spirit, realized in the radical imitation of the Nazarene Lord, and expressed in an unlimited trust in divine Providence, in the apostolic zeal to make it known, in joyful dedication to the poor.

Open to the signs of the times, the Congregation intends to respond to the needs of the Church with specific activities that her own charism and spirit determined. The mission, in the spirit of the Baptist, is to prepare the ways of the Lord and to remove the obstacles that prevent the men of today's times from freely accepting the Word of God.
